The VP of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Strategy and Execution will work side by side with the Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer to elevate the impact of Key’s eleven Business Impact and Networking Groups (KBINGs, business resource groups) and create strategies that enhance employee engagement, align with enterprise and line of business strategic priorities, and work with the Corporate Responsibility Team to connect with the communities throughout Key’s footprint.

The successful candidate will:

  • Partner with the Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer in the development, oversight and communication of Key’s DE&I strategies
  • Work closely with senior executives, internal communication, and HR functions to provide resources and tools in support of action plans, key initiatives, goals and objectives
  • Develop, drive and deliver a strategy to further the impact of Key’s KBINGs that produces demonstrable and measurable results; set and measure goals and benchmark and report progress; manage all aspects of KBING communications and tools
  • Serve as the advisor to and advocate for Key’s KBINGs including collaborating on enterprise and cross KBING strategies and events, chairing KBING meetings and gathering and communicating best practices.
  • Lead outreach programs that will facilitate building DE&I partnerships with community partners
  • Strengthen partnerships with the HR team to enhance focus on attraction, acquisition, retention, development and movement of diverse talent; assess effectiveness of current state efforts and identify opportunities, including leveraging KBINGs assist in the development of internal and external talent pools
  • Identify the role of the HRBPs, including partnership with Line of Business (LOB) DE&I Champions, influence with hiring managers as well as action planning and driving accountability with their LOBs
  • Develop guidelines for reviewing and sharing employee demographic, employee engagement survey and other information with internal stakeholders
  • Advance Diversity & Inclusion initiatives by closely partnering with LOB DE&I Champions; serve as a consultant and trusted advisor on action plan development and execution; share best practices and provide an enterprise view
  • Connect LOBs – through DE&I Champions – to enterprise resources and solutions, as identified as part of the work with HR
  • Support DE&I Champions with intentional focus on development and movement of diverse top talent; recommend development actions for individuals
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure buy-in, accountability, and measurement of the effectiveness of ongoing strategies
  • Have a clear understanding of the business needs and an ability to develop and communicate the business case for DE&I
  • Serve on and support Key’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council as well as other internal and external advocacy councils and boards, furthering Key’s commitment and position as a leader in terms of diversity, equity and inclusion within KeyBank, across the country and in the communities we serve.
  • Adhere to compliance standards and mitigate risk associated with DE&I programs and efforts

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.

Required Experience, Competencies and Skills:

  • 8 years minimum management experience or experience leading cross-functional multi-disciplinary teams required. Experience managing employee resource groups on a national scale is preferred.
  • 8 years minimum of specific experience in managing or creating diversity programs and initiatives is required. In lieu of diversity management experience, large-scale culture change initiative will be considered.
  • Demonstrated interest and passion in diversity demonstrated by involvement in network groups, diversity training, mentoring, and/or external community-based involvement.
  • Leverages knowledge of the business, expertise in inclusive practices and professional savvy to demonstrate ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, problem solving and conflict management skills; ability to “connect the dots.” Thinks, plans and executes on multiple levels.
  • Ability to integrate with, understand, communicate and report the needs of diverse employees and groups to business leaders and other stakeholders.
  • Action/execution oriented where decisions/actions are prioritized over fear/uncertainty
  • Hold partners accountable and being able to manage up and down throughout the enterprise
  • Create a transparent environment with the ability to have courageous conversations
  • Assesses and coaches to strengths and developmental needs of others involved with DE&I initiatives.
  • Demonstration of Key leadership competencies including interpersonal savvy, strategic agility and effective collaboration.
  • Can clearly articulate vision for future state; provide big picture/enterprise view; decisive and directive when necessary.
  • Fosters and encourages frequent, open and honest feedback. Learns from setbacks and mistakes.
  • Highly polished and confident communication ability
  • Integrates pertinent industry trends and best practices into strategy. Looks forward to see where the industry is going and proactively adjusts.
