Position Summary

Within the Asset & Liability Group in the Corporate Treasury Department, this position will be responsible for organizing, coordinating, analyzing and reporting interest rate risk for KeyCorp. Participates in the monthly and quarterly process for net interest income and net interest margin by organizing, analyzing and reporting on the actual financial results. Participates in projects to enhance the Bank's earnings simulation and economic valuation processes; this includes assisting in the development of customer behavior models, (e.g. deposit balance and rate behavior, loan and deposit prepayments, and loan and deposit volume growth expectations). Under the close supervision of the Interest Rate Risk Manager, the position assists in identifying and evaluating balance sheet strategies and works periodically with other areas of the Treasury Department to ensure proper modeling of investment, funding, liquidity, derivatives and hedging activities.

The position is responsible for supporting the functions of the Interest Rate Risk Team, net Interest income and net interest margin analytics, and other internal and external individuals and groups as required including Corporate Treasury Oversight and Model Risk Management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the monthly and quarterly process for net interest income and net interest margin analytics and reporting, including Key’s quarterly earnings release and forms 10-Q and 10-K disclosures.
  • Provides support for the corporate forecasting process, including the FP&A forecasting process.
  • Develop an understanding of Key’s line of business hierarchy, the general ledger account line structure, and management reporting financial systems.
  • Analytics on topics to enhance the modeling process and provide information on interest rate risk.
  • Maintaining current awareness of market and economic conditions.
  • Performing a variety of ad-hoc analyses related to interest rate risk, hedging, liquidity management, and net interest income and net interest margin results.
  • Use QRM Framework software to model the balance sheet.
  • Understanding the corporation’s balance sheet and management’s balance sheet goals.
  • Developing competence in interest rate risk measurement technologies and asset/liability management concepts, and staying abreast of developments in economics, modeling techniques, securities and financial markets.
  • Validating models and assumptions used in the interest rate risk measurement process.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Candidate must be self-motivated and results-oriented with the ability to function effectively under deadlines and possess the ability to work in a team environment as well as to be part of multiple teams.
  • Understanding of a wide range of commercial and consumer banking products, including non-maturity deposits, retail and commercial loans, and mortgage products.
  • Excellent use of Microsoft Excel as an advanced financial analysis tool.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Basic accounting knowledge of financial statements.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree is required, with a concentration in finance, mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, economics or accounting preferred.
  • Comfort with quantitative and statistical techniques.
  • Knowledge of banking, finance, accounting, economics and budgeting/planning with a financial institution is also desired.
  • 1+ years of financial industry experience preferred.
  • Graduate degree in business, finance, mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, economics or accounting preferred.
