Job Description

JOB BRIEF (PURPOSE):

Effectively lead and develop a team of credit underwriters. Facilitate efficient, effective and compliant underwriting and processing of credit requests for all Branch, Key Private Bank and Key.com/KeyBank Mortgage originated consumer loans. Participate in periodic meetings with Sales, Product Management, Collections and LOB personnel for various purposes not limited to credit approvals, special projects, continuous process improvement or portfolio management.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

•Lead, develop and motivate a team of credit underwriters in the achievement of established service and quality goals

•Insure that credit requests are processed promptly to meet client expectations and within Consumer Credit Policy and product requirements

•Recruit, hire and train credit underwriting staff

•Provide coaching and career path direction for direct reports based on analysis of key performance indicators, work action reviews, side-by-side and silent monitoring of behavioral skill-sets, and evaluations of competencies.

•Prepare, administer and retain performance improvement counseling, performance reviews, and developmental action plans.

•Manage and maintain complete knowledge or Performance Improvement Plan process, time/attendance, and PTO records for all team members

•Ensure compliance with Key Bank Policies and Regulatory Policies including Fair Lending and identifies when policy revisions are warranted. Recognize and implement procedural changes and maintain written processing and disaster recovery procedures.

•Evaluate key performance indicators associated with credit underwriting processes. Recommend and implement areas of opportunity identified and select appropriate course of action.

•Participate in and facilitate information sharing with your manager, business partners, peers and direct reports in a timely and efficient fashion to ensure widespread communication.

•Maintain/Build relationships with KCB, KPB and KBM product management and district/regional sales management team, participate in routine partnership calls, support marketing/promotional strategies by assisting in development, implementation, communication/training of CLC team and reporting to track results.

•Partner and coordinate activities with other Key LOB’s to assure seamless end to end service delivery to KeyBank clients.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

•Participate in internal/external audits of Credit Underwriting

•Partner with Product Management in strategic initiatives, new product implementation, test and learn opportunities and development of system controls/enhancements and procedural changes as a result of regulatory changes.

•Insure Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) compliance testing requirements are met

•Partner with Collection team consensus review of current/projected write-downs, 1st payment defaults and EPD’s

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

•Excellent communication skills-written, verbal, interpersonal and active listening

•Demonstrated ability to achieve departmental results and accomplish work through delegation and collaborative work environment

•Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities: good time management skills

•Process management and continuous improvement orientation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

•3 or more years of underwriting experience (preferably with at least some consumer underwriting experience)

•Training and supervisory and staff development experience regarding credit-oriented functions

•Bachelor’s degree

•Professional experience in financial services industry

•Proficient in Lotus Notes and Outlook

•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
