ABOUT THE JOB (JOB BRIEF)

KeyBank’s primary fiduciary officer providing expert trust administration and counsel to ultra high net worth individual clients and multi-generational families. Individual ultra high net worth clients generally have in excess of $15 million of investable assets and a net worth exceeding $25 million. Within the relationship management team, augments the client experience, collaborates effectively and provides insights and solutions to attract, retain and grow clients who require advice and complex strategies to protect, grow and transition personal and family wealth. Actively manages trusts and agency accounts in accordance with established policies and procedures to the highest professional standard. Retains, deepens and expands profitable client relationships with high level personal attention to the management and servicing of a limited number of Key Bank’s most valued client relationships.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Fiduciary Expertise

  • Leads the design and delivery of sophisticated and individualized fiduciary solutions, using a relationship team model, to a limited number of ultra high net worth clients
  • Demonstrates experience working directly and independently with clients and families with a broad array of estate and financial planning issues which often arise with ultra high net worth clients with diverse backgrounds and careers (including but not limited to family governance, philanthropic goals, business succession issues and the broad spectrum of investment asset classes)
  • Demonstrates multi-state sensitivity to specific state estate and tax planning issues
  • Works directly with international clients and their advisors on related planning and investment issues
  • Maintains deep expertise in fiduciary, investment, tax, and other related wealth issues by keeping current as to estate and tax law changes through legal education opportunities
  • Shares intellectual capital among the group of similarly experienced officers within the Family Wealth Group
Trust Administration
  • Administers complex accounts with a disciplined, consistent and comprehensive approach to the individual Family Wealth client’s situation
  • Analyzes and interprets legal instruments to determine duties and responsibilities of bank and to provide well coordinated estate, tax and financial planning alternatives to meet client’s needs
  • Identifies and resolves potential trust and estate tax-related issues
  • Reviews and monitors all estate planning documents periodically to ensure that they fit individual client’s current circumstances
Client Management
  • Front line contact with client either directly or in tandem with the relationship team to retain, deepen and expand existing client relationships
  • Primary contact for legal and accounting professionals in communications on behalf of the client
  • Executes a multi-state pro-active client contact plan
  • Primary facilitator for client information to financial planners, insurance advisors, and other internal partners with a specific expertise including but not limited to Key’s probate, real estate and tax groups
  • Demonstrates experience in anticipating and advising ultra high net worth clients on evolving financial goals and objectives
  • Demonstrates high level communication skills with the wide range of ultra high net worth clients -– patriarchs and matriarchs of families, business owners, corporate executives and other prominent clients often highly educated with diverse careers and backgrounds, multiple advisors and usually discreet as to their accumulated wealth
Compliance
  • Fulfills Key’s fiduciary responsibilities with utmost adherence to all internal fiduciary policies and procedures, regulatory and legal requirements
  • Anticipates and mitigates risk on assigned accounts
  • Assumes accountability for all delegated fiduciary administrative work on assigned accounts
  • Advises relationship managers and all other partners on all internal fiduciary issues

Sales
  • Leads in the closing of additional new business associated with assigned accounts or in tandem with the relationship team and local client contacts
  • Cultivates potential new customer relationships with qualified prospects both independently and with team members
  • Participates in relationship reviews as fiduciary expert on ultra high net worth teams. Adds value by knowing existing client’s current needs and the bank’s products and services and then partnering with teammates in connecting those two
  • Identifies and prioritizes trust and other opportunities to deepen relationships and enhance revenue
  • Participates in professional associations and events to demonstrate professional credibility and to develop and expand COI relationships
Reputation
  • Meets and engages with clients, prospective clients, family office managers, attorneys, accountants, consultants and co-fiduciaries
  • Fosters close business relationships to develop client loyalty and new business opportunities
  • Creates and executes on opportunities to showcase as subject-matter-expert presenter
  • Enhances Key’s reputation by concentrated networking with ultra high net worth individuals and advisors
Leadership
  • Promotes professional team atmosphere that encourages open dialogue as to ideas and alternatives leading to exceptional client experience and successful sales environment
  • Supports business objectives through active advocacy and behavioral adoption
  • Manages and promotes assigned trust associates
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of Key’s investment process and results
  • Participates in KeyCorp’s commitment to community
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Ten plus years trust administration and fiduciary advisory services experience or equivalent direct work experience primarily responsible for ultra high net worth individuals, families and family offices
  • JD, active registration with State Bar Association or local estate planning organizations and relevant practice experience
  • Undergraduate degree in business related field or equivalent experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (both written and verbal) on full spectrum of client and COI profiles – from C-level executives to younger generations
  • Demonstrated dedicated commitment and proven track record in cultivating existing client relationships with a view toward revenue enhancement and profitability
  • Recognition as a Trusted Advisor with experience working directly with high net worth or high profile individuals
  • Expert management skills in fostering, facilitating and delivering on the ultra high net worth market expectations
  • Applied knowledge of investments/securities in support of sales and client servicing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Prior experience as author of published industry articles
  • Experience as subject-matter-expert to in-house and industry groups
  • Demonstrated new business accomplishments in ultra high net worth market
  • CTFA, CPA, CFP or Master’s Degree
