POSITION TITLE:

BUSINESS ANALYST (w data focus)

JOB BRIEF (PURPOSE)

Working with the Enterprise Shared Services (ESS) leadership team, this position develops analytics used among internal KeyBank partners to inform and assist with decision making. Responsibilities include data mining, validation, analytics, presentation preparation & delivery. Relationship building across Key including Technology & Operations, Risk, Compliance, Community Bank will be critical to success. Areas of focus include primarily Fraud, and could also include AML, Information Security and Physical Security.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Working with the ESS Operations Support Manager and team on the following job functions:
  • Work with IT teams, management and/or data scientists to determine organizational goals
  • Mine data from primary and secondary sources
  • Clean data to discard irrelevant information
  • Validate data by reconciling to neutral source or system of record, understand and explain variances
  • Analyze and interpret results using standard tools and techniques
  • Pinpoint trends, correlations and patterns in complicated data sets
  • Identify new opportunities for process improvement
  • Provide concise data reports and clear data visualizations for management
  • Design, create and maintain relational databases and data systems
  • Triage code problems and data-related issues
  • Understand strategic priorities of Key and develop analytics and solution proposals aligned with these strategies
  • Articulate results of data analysis and recommendations in one-on-one conversations and within group settings

Examples of work efforts include (but are not limited to):
  • Analyze large and complex datasets to ensure efficacy of fraud rules related to deposits & cards, models, etc
  • Quantify fraud losses across various LOBs, channels, types; Understand patterns, emerging trends, mitigation strategies
  • Use data to develop ROI analysis for new products, financial forecasts and business cases
  • Variety of ad-hoc requests related to business as usual data sought from partners or for own use

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of industry trends and practices in Fraud, AML, Risk Management, Compliance, Operations, and Technology preferred
  • Proven ability to mine, clean, validate and analyze large datasets
  • Proficient in data management and BI software esp SAS and Tableau
  • Proven ability in leading work efforts from conception to delivery with minimal supervision
  • Proven sound business judgment, problem-solving and decision-making
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a dynamic environment while delivering on time with accuracy
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data/Science or related field
  • Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management implementing best practices
  • Knowledge and experience in risk management concepts and the ability to effectively manage risk according to established risk tolerances and thresholds
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain metrics around service levels, quality, and key indicators to continuously enhance effectiveness and sustain program stability
  • Proficiency with relational databases, queries, advanced use of MS Office toolkit for data collection and analysis
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to distill to executive level bullet points
  • Proven capability to grasp operational processes and flows, ability to identify pitfalls or shortcomings and recommend/drive improvements to mitigate
  • Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
  • Proven oral and written communication skills tailored depending on audience. Ability to influence and drive change
  • Familiarity with, and ability to generate ideas leading to, continuous improvement; Proven understanding and application of Lean Six Sigma principles
  • Retail Bank experience leading to knowledge of product offerings (deposits & loans) and also debit & credit card products (preferred)
