Reporting directly to the Small Business (SB) National Sales Leader, the SB Team Lead is responsible for deploying the national small business strategy, with a primary focus on serving clients in the $250K to $3MM revenue range. In partnership with the Retail organization, the SB Team Leader will lead assigned Small Business Wellness teams who are providing small business support and guidance to designated regions with the goal of increasing sales revenue while delivering a distinctive client experience. The position oversees quality measurements and processes for adherence to sales, service, productivity and compliance metrics. The role will be responsible for developing and maintaining a strong partnership with the Regional Retail Sales Leaders (RRLs) to drive business banking opportunities through the consumer channel within a designated region.

  • Sales Leader will manage the performance and results of SB banking sales advisory teams with the responsibility for growing a client base of companies with revenue between $250K to $3MM
  • Assigned team will provide small Business Support & Guidance within the retail network with a concentrated focus on Branch Manager success
  • Oversee the pre-flight process for moderately sophisticated credit sales opportunities
  • Team will perform pre & post call planning support for identifying opportunities
  • Ensure an expert team responsible for navigating Small Business tools and systems
  • Develop and lead the SB onboarding and education process for clients; design and delivery of job aids and workshops to branch employees
  • SB Team Leader provides oversight to ensure branches and clients have instant (virtual) and regional access to a SB expert with deep industry expertise
  • Regions are typically served by all members of a regional POD and individual POD members will have areas of specialty (i.e. lending, cash management, outbound calling)
  • Team will proactively work a targeted book of business for the region
  • Partners with Core Business Banking Sales Leaders, SBA, Servicing and Product Management in identifying opportunities to deliver Key’s value proposition to acquire new clients, while deepening and retaining existing client relationships
  • Coaches to the Business Banking value proposition and defined client experiences and directs the team’s efforts through utilization of consistent sales and service processes/tools
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of competitive products and services to support the awareness of the team
  • Fosters an environment for learning/best practice sharing and accountability; drives the performance and sustained success of the centralized BB team
  • Supports sound credit initiation process to drive a high quality profitable portfolio
  • Creates and cultivates relationships with business partners both internal to Key and external (e.g. treasury, Key@Work, FX, Leasing, Merchant, KIS)
  • Creates and sustains a dynamic culture of quality through performance management, compensation and reward/recognition programs
  • Motivates and empowers team members in the successful performance of their responsibilities while encouraging innovation and creating change agents
  • Establishes high standards for work quality and provides opportunities for career growth in order to develop and retain a highly trained and motivated staff
  • Manages and tracks performance objectives for the team; evaluates performance to make informed business decisions and to develop career progression of assigned SB Wellness Advisors
  • Recruit, recognize and retain talent within assigned team

  • 3-5 leadership experience within the financial services industry or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5 years proven success in sales management and/or business development role
  • Demonstrated experience with and thorough knowledge of personal, business and commercial financial statements, commercial lending, and small business operations
  • Ability to effectively execute against multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on consensus building and negotiations
  • Proven success leading and motivating a team
  • Ability to develop and challenge direct reports and peers through strong leadership and coaching
  • Proven experience with leading large scale projects and cross-functional initiatives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong presentation skills
  • In depth knowledge of financial products and banking regulations
