The Department Manger - Trust Tax position is responsible for oversight of the fiduciary, charitable and individual tax reporting of clients in Key’s Private Bank. The position ensures that the production of tax reporting is coordinated with tax advice and strategy tailored to individual client and family situations. The position supervises tax professionals to ensure that the team is proactive and relevant in its client service and that the year-end tax reporting supports the implementation of the advice/strategy. Participates in driving business value, setting direction for the trust tax team’s workload, leveraging industry best practices.

Provides direct leadership to Tax professionals, Trust Officers, Relationship Managers and other client facing team members to achieve consistent execution of tax advice to families and not for profit organizations. Sets and continuously improves performance standards and is accountable for the development of a world class advice based delivery and reporting practice, ensuring performance standards are met and risk is effectively mitigated.

• Identification and execution of projects and initiatives to streamline/improve workflow and internal controls
• Coordination with client’s external advisors

• Proactive in managing financial results and contribution of the department to Key Private Bank
• Department profile:
Ø 20-25 tax professionals
Ø 90% Form 1041 Fiduciary prep
Ø 5% Form 990 Charitable prep
Ø 5% Form 1040 Individual prep

  • Maintains compliance with all internal policies and procedures, as well as, with regulatory and legal requirements
  • Mitigates risk on individual book of business
  • Assumes accountability for all delegated work on assigned accounts

Marginal Job Functions

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; or equivalent work experience.
• Certified Public Accountant or LLM preferred.
• Bank trust tax experience of at least 15 years or equivalent high volume fiduciary tax preparation.
• Demonstrated strong client focus; efficient and delivers in a timely manner.
• Experience with OneSource Trust Tax.
• Ability to plan and schedule work to meet strict tax deadlines
• Proven ability to handle multiple priorities and work independently and as part of a team
• Communication and motivational skills relative to individuals with technical backgrounds.

• Experience with Global Plus or similar Trust Accounting System.
• Windows, Word, Excel and Access experience.
