Job Description

The Senior Brokerage Accountant for KeyBanc Capital Markets (KBCM or the Firm) is responsible for the preparation of various financial and regulatory reports in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, monitoring the results of daily reconciliations, and providing ongoing accounting support for the various lines of business within KBCM.
Job Functions
  • Preparation of financial data reported on the SEC Form X-17A-5 for KBCM, including balance sheets, income statements, computations of net capital, and other operational data.
  • Calculation of daily net capital for KBCM, including maintenance of the software used for calculating deductions from net capital based on the perceived liquidity of the Firm’s securities trading portfolio.
  • Assist in the preparation of KBCM’s annual audited financial statements and supplemental schedules.
  • Preparation of information to be incorporated into various internal reports to Firm management and the KBCM Board of Directors, including conducting analysis of trends and profitability of the business units within KBCM.
  • Preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations and coordination of the account certification process performed by the CFO. Extensive interaction with Operational Balance & Control and SOX Governance departments.
  • Monitoring of daily reconciliations between various systems, including the coordination of research and resolution efforts and periodic reporting on the effectiveness of the control processes. Identification and escalation of aged differences for incorporation into net capital computation.
  • Represent KBCM Finance on various cross-functional initiatives including, but not limited to, interactions line of business management, SOX Governance, internal audit, risk management and compliance, accounting policy and research, and independent auditors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar field
  • CPA licensure
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and practical application of accounting principles
  • 5 years’ experience with preparation of documentation needed to support independent audits and regulatory examinations
  • Series 27 and/or 7 licensure, or ability to attain within one year of hire
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple concurrent initiatives
