Job Description

This position provides broad expertise and support for the loan and deposit portfolio of Key Private Bank (KPB), which will encompass training, best practices, policy/product development, loan structuring, and risk mitigation. This position acts as an advisor to KPB Market Sales Teams, providing guidance on complex credit issues for high net worth clients. Responsible for the coordination of customized lending, consumer and mortgage credit for the high net worth clients to Key Private Bank. This position collaborates and performs as part of broader Market teams to execute client strategy for Private Bank loan and deposit portfolios (Regional Sales Executives, Market Managers, Sales Leaders, Wealth Advisors, Relationship Managers, Financial Planners, Assistant Relationship Managers and Relationship Associates and Private Banking Mortgage Loan Officers).

Technical/Credit Expertise
  • Provides support to Market Sales Teams in delivering customized lending, consumer credit and mortgage solutions, recommends solutions that meet the needs of high net worth clients.
  • Maintains superior level credit structuring expertise for largest and most complex loan transactions.
  • Provides support to Market Sales Teams and acts as expert in: credit and depository products, deal structuring and pricing models. Maintains awareness, knowledge and contacts with other bank related products/services (Loan Derivatives, Treasury, Commercial Real Estate) to deliver superior service to Key Private Bank clients.
  • Maintains compliance with all internal policies and procedures, as well as regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Maintains effective working relationship and mutual support with Private Bank Credit Officers, Consumer Loan Center and Mortgage underwriting teams.
  • Maintains detailed working knowledge of Key Private Bank depository offering including features/benefits, rates and minimum balance qualifications. Understand and assist Market Sales Teams with deposit exception process as well as advising on rate offers in specific markets across Key’s footprint.

  • Identifies, Develops and Implements (along with Product Management) training processes/procedures to ensure Market Teams maintain strong working knowledge of credit policies and procedures.
  • Ability to learn, develop, instruct and communicate Best Practices on loan structure, pricing and portfolio monitoring techniques.
  • Works with Private Bank Credit Officers and Underwriters at the Credit Campus, Consumer Loan Center and KeyBank Mortgage to share best practices and helps foster a consistent, national underwriting approach.
Portfolio Monitoring
  • Conducts periodic Market on-site visits to help with credit and process training needs.
  • Provides loan workout strategy support as needed for downgraded accounts that remain under Market management.
  • Provides advisory input on when to move downgrade loans to Asset Recovery Group.
  • Attends and reports on quarterly Asset Quality meetings, and provides guidance and support to Market Sales Teams and ARG Officers on work out strategies.
  • Collaborates with other Segments, where necessary, to direct loans to most appropriate channel.
  • Provides support to markets on tracking and resolving portfolio tracking criticized/classified loans, delinquencies, documentation exceptions, pricing exceptions, etc.)
Product Development
  • Continuous dialogue with Markets to understand changing requirements of clients' loan needs.
  • Communicates to senior management and product team program/product enhancements, pricing strategies, and marketing strategies that may provide advantages for Key Private Bank.

  • Ability to meet and communicate with clients, prospective clients, attorneys, accountants and other advisors to provide support for ongoing loan book production and management efforts.
  • Some travel will be involved.
  • Develops and maintains basic knowledge of all financial services.

  • A minimum of seven years banking experience
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong commercial lending or credit experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of client relationship management and consultative selling

  • MBA or post graduate training
  • Credit Underwriting and/or loan workout experience
  • Previous management experience, or demonstrated ability to build consensus on team with diverse views
