Job Description

The Quantitative Analytics Manager is primarily responsible for leading the testing and tuning of Sanction Screening and Customer Risk Rating vendor models using statistics, advanced mathematical techniques, and/or computer science. The Quantitative Analytics Manager leverages advanced mathematical knowledge, analysis, partnerships, and regulatory knowledge to provide solutions to predictive and prescriptive questions such as “What is the impact?” and “What will happen next and what should we do about it?”. Projects undertaken by the Quantitative Analytics Manager span across Key’s screening models and involve hands-on contribution as well as guiding a team through providing solutions to compliance questions, leveraging statistics, best practices or emerging techniques, and quantitative tools / techniques. Success factors include: demonstrating leadership through strong communication skills; coaching others on developing technical skills; managing competing priorities and presenting holistic, thoughtful analyses to answer partners’ problem statements; prioritizing multiple projects and managing to tight deadlines; establishing a reputation as an effective and collaborative partner; communicating technical theories, observations, and models to a non-technical audience; leveraging knowledge of regulatory guidance, sanctions, and business to connect day-to-day work of the team to the “bigger picture” and driving efficiency in solution delivery.
  • Oversee a small team (2-4 direct reports) to create and leverage models, inferential statistics and prescriptive analysis to proactively address Compliance needs; including model development, ongoing monitoring and validation activities related to Sanction Screening
  • Conduct testing and analysis to determine model configuration and settings for the Sanction Screening models (i.e. Bridger) including “Below-the-Line” testing, sensitivity testing and sanction list testing
  • Develop the design and/or testing of vendor models; including coding theories, inputs, methodologies, processing, ongoing monitoring and periodic tuning
  • Explore new methods for ensuring satisfactory output from vendor models
  • Research, compile and evaluate large sets of data to assess quality and determine suitability for model building
  • Adhere to a strict ongoing monitoring schedule; provide analytical results to Model Owners and assist in evaluating model reliability/performance
  • Recommend solutions based on understanding of the context, connections and conclusions; employ innovative techniques to drive model efficiencies (reducing false positives)
  • Review deliverables; proactively coach others on approach and work product
  • Make continuous improvements to data procedures, including data efficiency
  • Promote increased efficiency of data analysis by advocating clear data requirements
  • Recommend best analysis method for the situation
  • Master’s degree (or its equivalent) in statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, data sciences, predictive modeling, or other quantitative disciplines and at least 5 years of relevant experience; or Bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent) in statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, data sciences, predictive modeling, or other quantitative disciplines and at least 6 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated direct management experience
  • Significant experience developing, validating and tuning Sanction Screening models for OFAC compliance
  • Experience developing, validating and tuning KYC Customer Risk models
  • In-depth understanding of OFAC regulatory requirements, technology and data analysis best practices to guide decision making and execution of screening technology
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to develop and implement monitoring processes
  • Ability to define and communicate key risk metrics, dashboards and analytics for senior management and executive reporting; translate technical observations to a non-technical audience
  • Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills
  • Experience working with sanctions and KYC-related vendor tools, including LexisNexis BridgerInsight XG and Actimize ActOne
  • Experience designing, implementing and documenting statistical tests
  • Intermediate to advanced SQL query skills
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in a statistical coding language – SAS or Python strongly preferred
  • Understanding the Pros / Cons of competing analysis methods
  • Understanding and ability to leverage cloud-based computing
  • Ability to select and retrieve data including unstructured data retrieval, archival, and ETL
  • Predictive modeling/machine learning experience
  • Curious mind – able to find new areas where modeling and analytics could help improve the Compliance program

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with international sanction schemes, especially Canada/EU
