Job Description


Conduct independent validations of KeyBank’s high impact models (e.g. CCAR, Credit Risk Rating, Compliance, etc.) in compliance with regulatory and KeyBank’s model validation policies and guidelines. The person in this role will be viewed as a subject matter expert with a highly specialized skill set. The position requires a strong quantitative background.


  • Review and challenge the conceptual framework, assumptions, technical soundness and fit-for-use of KeyBank’s high impact models
  • Assess model performance through rigid statistical/quantitative analyses of the model outcomes
  • Verify the correct model implementation through review or replication
  • Assess model risks/limitations and the adequacy of model ongoing monitoring/maintenance
  • Verify that model has been properly documented
  • Document the validation procedures and results


  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in finance, mathematics, statistics or other quantitative field
  • Strong working knowledge of SAS and SQL
  • Advanced knowledge of statistics, mathematics and financial modeling
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office with advanced experience in Excel
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously to meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment in collaboration with other team members and external consulting firms


  • 1+ years of model development or model validation experience preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of MATLAB, Python, R, or other programming languages
