At Laurel Road we have begun work to grow beyond our student lending successes by expanding our product set to offer additional consumer banking products and solutions under the Laurel Road name and brand. We are clearly aimed at growing and expanding customer relationships in 2020 and beyond. Thus, we need talented product leaders who have the mindset of a startup, but also has the presence and experience to partner with, and understand, stakeholder requirements at a deep level in tech and the business, to help us reach our goals.

We are looking for a Product Manager with a background in retail banking product management (i.e. deposits, lending, credit card and/or payments) and a proven success in project management. This team member will partner with a Senior Product Manager to drive end-to-end new product development from ideation through launch. The most exciting part of joining our team is that we own both our digital origination applications as well the banking products themselves. Thus, teammates that join us will have the unique opportunity to work in a hybrid product management role taking on the responsibilities of both a digital product manager and a traditional product manager. This teammate will be tasked with overseeing various aspects of multiple product development projects concurrently and given we are a small but mighty team they will have the opportunity to work on a range of products, applications and features not siloed into one product or application.

Over time, as we mature as Product and Product Development team, this role could transition from pure product development to a more traditional product management role to ensure the competitiveness of our offering and a healthy balance of revenue and expense to maintain and grow highly sought-after design target.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The role combines elements of product management, project management, business analysis and leadership in ensuring our products are launched according to the defined objectives, on time and within budget
• Analyzes and optimizes client experience and financial returns
• Translate research and hypotheses into product and project requirements
• Manages and is accountable for the completion and follow through of assigned product development projects
• Typically oversee between three and five projects associated with new product development concurrently
• Leads quality project meetings including providing agendas and meeting minutes
• These projects cover the full end to end customer journey associated with new product development – Design through originations through onboarding.
• Lead/ take part in projects cross lines of business, including Sales and Marketing, UX & UI, Customer Support and Operations, Technology and Engineering, Finance and Accounting, and Legal and Compliance to ensure timely delivery of new product launches.
• Manages, plans and coordinates project activities to ensure goals and objectives are identified, documented and accomplished within agreed schedules and recognized constraints.
• Documents how the project scope will be defined, managed, controlled, verified and communicated to the project team, stakeholders and customers.
• Must be familiar with system scope and project objectives, as well as the role and responsibility of each team member, to effectively coordinate team activities.
• Build trusted relationships with various levels of the organization through clear and consistent communication
• Lead and manage in compliance with the established standards of Laurel Road & KeyBank
• Work with internal departments like Legal, Compliance, Risk and Operations to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies
• Develops and delivers necessary presentations including supporting documentation to all levels throughout the organization.
• Periodic travel to Laurel Road and KeyBank locations


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE FOR THIS JOB:
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
• Banking product management experience preferably in retail/consumer banking
• Experience in the delivery of a new products or the significant enhancement of existing products
• Exhibit strong analytical, interpersonal, collaboration, communication, presentation, negotiation, influence and problem-solving skills
• Experience working in partnership with lines of business across a banking organization
• Knowledge of the product lifecycle
• Understanding of Design Thinking principles
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Strong knowledge of Agile and Lean principles, methodologies and practices a plus but not a requirement
• Experience with Jira, Confluence and/or other similar technologies a plus but not a requirement
