Job Description

• Monitor macro/sector trends, identify emerging risks, and lead research with assigned LOBs (Business Banking and CRE but can expand to other areas of interest); Prepare macro or sector-specific reports for senior-level meetings on a regular basis; Write credit views on emerging trends/risks and communicate with other business units;

• Lead analytics on the bank’s NOORE portfolio (non-owner occupied real estate) by utilizing external, RecWeb and other property level data; serve as Secretary of RECON committee and take active role in preparing agenda and materials

• Contribute to the annual recalibration of tolerances and limits with active collaboration with Treasury, LOB and Credit partners

Provide meaningful, content rich coverage to assigned LOB with the goal of mitigating portfolio risk

•Arrange an introductory meeting with LOB and credit heads for assigned LOBs -- travel may be necessary

•Act as single point of contact for assigned LOBs to coordinate efforts of LOB, Finance, Credit, ALLL, and Investor Relations to respond to requests for information on portfolio trends and emerging risks from regulators, auditors, ratings agencies and other external constituents

• Lead research initiatives to investigate the credit portfolio’s risk composition ahead of potential business cycle migrations, industry risk migrations, regional risk migrations, and name specific credit migrations

• Extract timely and accurate data from application systems using advanced programming skills

• Research and analyze data, preparing and presenting analytical information and ensuring data integrity of the bank’s loan portfolio

• Build/maintain databases of key economic/financial indicators, Early-warning and Key Risk Indicators, and other credit risk metrics.

• Extensive working knowledge of Key internal reporting systems (i.e., LIQ, CL3, EDW, CWA, etc) and experience with creating databases

• Able to read, write and/or translate some technical code to produce meaningful financial analysis reports

• Conduct research investigating quantitative measurement of credit portfolio performance

• Interact closely with Senior Credit Portfolio Managers and CPM’s trading functions

• Manage one or more junior staff and rotational analysts and interns and help set their developmental goals, CPM processes training, and mentoring.


• Bachelors degree (preferably in a field such as Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or Statistics) and a minimum of 5 to 7 years experience in banking, credit risk or market risk.

• Proficient in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)

• Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) SAS and/or Python preferred

• Ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to multi-task

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• An inquisitive nature, strong communication and negotiation skill are required to effectively obtain business requirements and approvals from various stakeholders; detail orientation, good interpersonal skills, accuracy, focus and teamwork are required. Accuracy in analysis and the timely achievement of goals is crucial to success in this role.


• Knowledge of banking, credit risk, ability to efficiently analyze large data sets

• Knowledge of bank’s internal databases and financial reporting systems

• Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, personal integrity and initiative


• Demonstrated ability to set priorities, organize workflow and manage multiple tasks concurrently; strong ability to act resourcefully, conduct fact-finding research work and well under pressure and deadlines

• Ability to manage junior staff and rotational analysts and interns in setting research priorities, checking the work product, and data process improvements

• Demonstrated excellent communications skills

• The candidate must be highly proficient with MS OFFICE, (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint). Experience with Bloomberg software or exposure to other financial information management systems and/or platforms.

• Ability and willingness to take initiative, assume accountability and drive for results. Must be able to exercise good judgment, employ reasoning skills, exert positive influence and work independently.

• High level of comfort, interactivity with senior executives, and sales & trading professionals


• Completion of a SAS or Python training is a strong plus
