Laurel Road, a brand of Key Bank, is part of the expanding FinTech space: we offer Mortgages, Student Loans, and Personal Loans through a digital online experience, We simplify the process for both borrowers and bankers, while increasing choices of products, improving tracking, and offering a positive banking experience.
The Mortgage Loan Closer is responsible for the overall mortgage closing and post-closing process which includes closing document preparation and review to adhere with all compliance guidelines, effective communication with all internal and external parties and prompt funding of loans.

  • Coordinates and schedules residential loan closings within established timeframes following all compliance guidelines.
  • Responds to and resolves a variety of issues from internal and external contacts related to the scheduling of closings, issuing approval of final settlement costs and the execution of closing documents.
  • Meets the compliance component of all final disclosures to ensure accuracy with associated Federal & Consumer regulations.
  • Processes loan wires/funding in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Prepares and distributes all loan closing documents to applicable parties.
  • Reviews returned documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepares loan file for timely delivery to servicing department.
  • Communicates with all internal and external parties to include borrowers, closing agents and loan account managers.
  • Keeps abreast of all investor guidelines pertaining to loan closing and delivery.
  • Processes accurate and timely data entry into the loan operating system.
  • Adheres to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory standards, requirements, and policies.

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 2+ years residential mortgage loan closing experience strongly preferred
  • Specialized knowledge of loan closing processes and procedures.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of TRID, as well as state and federal regulations related to mortgage closings.
  • Must be able to manage a pipeline of closings with the effective use of time and resources.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, timeline driven, paperless environment with excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with a high level of accuracy.
  • Effective PC skills including excel, internal and industry standard systems. Ability to learn to use additional applications as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Strong math & analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal skills and the ability to communicate in a calm, courteous and professional manner when handling difficult situations.
