Job Description

A Managing Director or Director within KBCM’s Corporate Banking Group is responsible for business development and relationship management, will source and assess all new credit opportunities, and partner with product specialists to cross sell the bank’s products. Corporate Banking focuses on middle and upper middle market clients across a diverse set of industries, with particularly focus on those within KBCM’s verticals of Industrial, Consumer, Energy, Healthcare, Technology, Business Services, and Financial Services.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for business development and relationship management
  • Acts as primary point of contact for overall commercial banking relationships
  • Formulates and executes a business development strategy to build a pipeline of commercial and investment banking prospects and opportunities
  • Manages team activities and personnel, including performance reviews, client / prospect assignments, etc. (MD Only)
  • Utilizes internal and external networks to attract commercial banking prospects, including centers of influence, networking events, industry conferences, etc.
  • Maintains required subject expertise including product knowledge, general organization practices, and policies and procedures applicable to product lines and services
  • Actively calls on new prospects to identify new business or referral opportunities
  • Assists in closing deals across all product groups
  • Achieves individual business development revenue goals
  • Sources and evaluates all new credit opportunities and partners with product specialists to cross sell the bank’s products
  • Pre-screens qualified loan opportunities, structuring deals to balance risk/rewards
  • Actively involved in pitching, structuring, negotiating and closing new loan transactions
  • Oversees and ensures sound underwriting practices for presentation to credit approver
  • Increases awareness of KeyBank’s presence in the marketplace through active involvement in the community

Required Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S. degree required / MBA preferred
  • Must possess 10+ years of experience in the Commercial Banking market
  • Must possess an advanced knowledge of commercial banking products and services and be able to successfully capitalize on cross-sell opportunities
  • Must possess strong sales, marketing, business development and negotiation skills
  • Must possess advanced knowledge of credit and credit quality
  • Must be a self-starter, entrepreneurial, results oriented routinely exceed client expectations
  • Candidate must be able to demonstrate proven track record of production in commercial banking market
  • Formal credit training or experience is preferred
  • Series 79 / 63 preferred – candidate will be expected to gain these designations
