Please note this is a part-time position approximately 30 hours per week.


The Lead Specialist (Lockbox Utility Specialist) reports to the Lockbox Supervisor/Manager. This position serves a critical function to the Lockbox team, responsible for supporting production associates in the receipt and processing of complex client remittance data, preparation and processing of checks. The Lead Specialist works independently and as part of a team to meet service levels and deliver a best in class client experience.


The Lead Specialist is a subject matter expert in all areas of Lockbox processing and is called upon daily to assist in multiple areas of production, ensuring client service levels are met with regards to timeliness and accuracy.

Primary Functions

  • Open mail and extract paper invoices/checks (A sorting assessment will be given as part of the on-site interview process to determine extraction skills)
  • Properly sort non-payment documents for processing
  • Accurately batch work and communicate issues to Workflow Coordinator or Supervisor
  • Develop subject matter expertise to identify optimizations and troubleshoot processing issues
  • Operate high volume extraction and image capture devices to process client payments
  • Utilize Lockbox software for data entry and reconciliation processes
  • Assist with end of day activities including client reporting, packaging and exception processing
  • Think critically to make independent, informed decisions
  • Follow established corporate and department policies and procedures


  • Backup workflow coordinator when necessary, managing the flow of work throughout the various stages of Lockbox processing


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Previous Lockbox or operations experience in a production environment
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive attitude focused on team success
  • Self-Starter and willing to take initiative
  • Flexibility to work production-based hours
  • Ability to read and follow instructions with attention to detail
  • Eye-hand coordination and ability to operate general office equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize work
  • Knowledgeable with basic computer equipment and software
  • Ability to work Monday - Friday 6:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and/or until completion of work. Also candidates will need to have the ability to work additional hours during peak periods. There are two Saturdays per month required four times each year due to peak processing and they are typically at each quarter end (January, April, July, and October).
  • A sorting assessment will be administered as part of the on-site interview process.


  • 2-3 years Lockbox experience
  • Subject matter expertise in Lockbox processing
  • 10-key skills with PC/Keyboard experience.
