Job Description

JOB BRIEF (PURPOSE)

The Family Office Director is a senior advisor that exclusively works with Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) families with a net-worth of greater than $25MM. This role serves as the primary point of contact for UHNW families and manages the day to day services and team interactions. The role is responsible for the coordination and delivery of all family wealth services and ensures the client receives an industry leading family office experience. The Family Office Director also:

  • Owns the service strategy and overall client experience for uhnw families
  • Works with the Family Strategist to develop the annual client relationship plan and coordinates the entire team to ensure the execution of the plan
  • Owns the implementation of the Family Wealth onboarding plan
  • Serves as the clients’ primary point of contact for all service related activities
  • Retains and deepens client relationships with high level personal attention

• Manages and coordinates the activities of the service team including the Investment Consultant, Portfolio Manager, Fiduciary Director, Wealth Consultant, Regional Planning Strategist, and Relationship Manager

• Coordinates the client discovery conversations and establishes client goals in coordination with the Family Strategist

  • Develops and maintains ongoing Wealth Issues Reviews and Wealth Roadmap for assigned clients

• Works with Wealth Consultant and Regional Planning Strategist in building client financial plans

• Co-facilitates Family Wealth Legacy Day and develops strategies to prepare the next generation

• Participates in clients’ annual family meetings

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Advisory

• Develops a deep knowledge of our Family Wealth client’s entire financial and family situation.

• Establish a level of trust and confidence with Family Wealth clients while navigating Key into the position of the Trust Advisor.

• Facilitate the estate, tax, and philanthropic planning process while working closely with the Wealth Consultants and outside advisors to meet planning goals of the client.

Sales

• Works closely with the Family Strategist to identify and prioritize opportunities to deepen relationships

• Seek to increase current accounts through additions to AUM

• Fosters close business relationships to develop client loyalty and new business opportunities

• Reviews client based on complexity and service required and addresses changes to fees to improve profitability

• Participates in professional associations and events to demonstrate professional credibility and to develop and expand COI relationships

• Leads the onboarding process for new families in partnership with the Family Strategist

Client Servicing and Retention

• Responsible for the overall execution of the client experience and annual client plan while partnering closely with the Family Strategist to provide the level of service clients expect from Key Family Wealth.

• Responsible for retaining and deepening the relationship with a client including the next generation

• Coordinates the delivery of all Family Office Services including legacy planning, educational services, family foundation services and accounting services

Opportunity Management

• Maintains and expands current client relationships.

• Accountable for management of book of business in Salesforce (house holding, client profile updates, contact management, task management)

• Develops and maintains an in-depth knowledge of financial wealth management services and products as well as knowledge of competitors and competitive products.

• Leads, coordinates, and assembles advisory team based on client needs. Acts as lead and/or client advocate/ representative on assembled team.

• Employs and maintains a disciplined approach to client review process using designated tracking tools to document progress on implementation of client strategies.

Needs Assessment

• Develops a comprehensive understanding of client’s needs, based on the review and analysis of personal and business financial data gathered through Relationship Reviews, Client Insights and Internal Partners.

• Determines client needs and opportunities using Building Mastery and KPB Planning approach.

• Delivers distinctive service by completing annual relationship reviews with all assigned clients, consistently updates the tools with current client data, call summaries, etc.

Presentation

• Prepares and delivers client presentations, individually and as part of a team, presenting appropriate financial solutions via consultative review and proactive contact. Uses Wealth Direction consistently.

• Actively listens to concerns, presents a clear concise picture and provides the client with targeted solutions to close the sale.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Ten plus years in working closely as the trusted advisor for uhnw families in a family office setting

• Deep tax, investment, or fiduciary experience

• Undergraduate degree in business related field or equivalent experience

• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (both written and verbal) on full spectrum of client and COI profiles – from C-level executives to younger generations

• Demonstrated dedicated commitment and proven track record in cultivating existing client relationships with a view toward revenue enhancement and profitability

• Expert management skills in fostering, facilitating and delivering on the ultra high net worth market expectations

• Applied knowledge of investments/securities in support of sales and client servicing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• CPA, CFP, JD, or MBA

  • Experience as subject-matter-expert to in-house and industry groups
  • Demonstrated new business accomplishments in ultra high net worth market
