The KBM Business Analyst III will support the Home Lending department which will include working collaboratively with business partners across KeyBank. The successful incumbent will be expected to manage responsibilities across Data Management and Governance activities as well as advanced analytics support for Continuous Improvement initiatives. The candidate, with minimal supervision from their manager, would be expected to analyze specific operational functions in Home Lending through researching, testing and recommending optimal process. Ideally, the candidate possesses Home Lending business expertise as well as experience working in a Lean/Six Sigma environment. Additionally, strong knowledge of data management best practices and experience in working with data models is needed to be successful in the role.


Data Management and Governance
• Provide subject matter expertise, best practices, data analysis, and requirements for data quality issue resolution.
• Manage and maintain a data quality issues log and associated metrics.
• Triage and research data quality issues, open production tickets.
• Trace data lineage & transformations through multiple systems.
• Build and maintain data structure that supports the various reporting done through SAS, Tableau, etc
• Support analysts in finding ways to improve processes around reporting, automation, distribution, and overall solutions
• Create/maintain effective, complete documentation on program coding, processes, and output.

Process/Continuous Improvement Analysis
• Develop a thorough understanding of the business and its functions, processes, operations, customers, and competitive environment.
• Analyze complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers.
• Collect, analyze, compile, and author data requirements across projects
• Utilizes data visualization tools, such as Tableau, to develop reports and dashboards that summarize project results
• Validate output to ensure accuracy and integrity.
• Participate in developing system/process enhancement in order to mitigate risk
• Perform analysis that directly supports Continuous Improvement initiatives including: building performance dashboards, regression analysis, champion/challenger, etc
• Perform predictive analysis and effectively communicate results, insights, and recommendations to business leadership.
Collect and analyze data, leveraging tools, to determine baseline performance and variation to isolate problem areas
• Identifies and interprets trends and patterns in datasets to locate influences
• Effectively communicate project status on a regular basis through various means.

Other Responsibilities
• Partner with process owners across Home Lending in providing appropriate materials and presentations necessary to increase process controls and reduce risk.
• Participate in and facilitate information sharing with your manager, business partners, and peers, in a timely and efficient fashion to ensure widespread communication.
• Participate in the planning and implementation of new projects, products, programs, and plans to achieve short and long term business objectives
• Works independently; may instruct or coach other business analysts.
• Under general direction, responsible for performing complex research and analysis to support business operations and presenting findings to manager or project leader.
• May perform special projects upon request and oversee the work of less experienced Business Analysts.

• Bachelor's degree with more than 5 years of experience, or equivalent work experience within the consumer mortgage banking industry
• Demonstrated business and technical knowledge of respective business unit in creating integrated solutions.
• Knowledge of SAS (or equivalent too) development
• Experience using Tableau, and building data structure to support it
• Background in Process/Continuous Improvement/Lean
• Understanding of data mart table structure, relationships, and design
• Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Proven ability in the successful execution of essential job functions within a specific project.
• Proven knowledge of consumer mortgage banking (could include operations, secondary marketing and/or sales).
• Proven ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative partnerships among the business unit and internal partners.
• Ability to manage multiple activities in a deadline-oriented environment; highly organized and flexible
• Strong research skills with an attention to detail
• Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills
• Strong Microsoft Office skills – Excel, Word and Power Point
• Experience in statistical analysis and use of statistical analysis tools (Minitab or equivalent)
• Ability to work independently and jointly in unstructured environments in a self-directed way
• Ability to take a leadership role on projects and with business unit
• Experience in research and analysis of data, market needs, and customer issues
• Experience developing functional and non-functional requirements
• Experience working closely with team members during development and product launch
