About the Job

The primary responsibility of the Underwriter is to access the risk of loan under application. The Underwriter is accountable for the transaction with regard to knowledge of the loan, the loan terms, insuring that the underwriting is in compliance with Key Underwriting Guidelines, is supportable by the market, the presentation of the loan and its underwriting to the rating agencies and bond buyers.

Essential Job Functions

Review underwriting file.

Contact Borrower/Mortgage Banker/Broker and review file information as well as any additional information necessary to process the loan.

Analyze leases and reconcile with underwriting.

Review credit investigation analysis.

Perform site inspection.

Prepare detail risk analysis credit presentation.

Present loan to Credit Committee.

Review third party reports.

Monitor program changes, guidelines, market data, and macroeconomic issues.

Assist Securitization in the preparation of loans and underwriting packages for Rating Agencies and Bond Buyers.

Required Qualifications

Minimum three to seven years of Commercial Real Estate lending experience.

Four year college degree required, preferably in real estate, finance or related area.

Comprehensive knowledge of Commercial Real Estate operation and real estate accounting, lease structures and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

CMBS loan underwriting experience highly preferable.

Commercial Real Estate workout and modification experience.

Commercial Real Estate appraisal background, experience or designation.

Commercial property management, leasing, or asset management.

Experience with various property types: Retail, Industrial, Hospitality, Office/Warehouse, Office, Multifamily and Self-Storage.
