Description
Reporting to the SVP, Business Technology Executive for Digital Channels, the Digital Front-End Engineering Leader will bring the concept of Financial Wellness and Money Management to life for more than 3 million clients. This individual will lead a team of front-end engineers, focused on building engaging user experiences for Key’s Online Banking, Mobile Banking and Account Opening solutions.
As the leader of our Front-End Engineering team, you will have a multi-faceted role:
1. Set front-end engineering direction and strategy for internal digital platform
2. Manage 15+ front-end developers, engineers and architects
3. Partner with our UX Design team to align designs with UI architecture and roadmap
4. Partner with our back-end engineering team to optimize design of data exchange and integration
5. Cultivate and grow front-end engineering talent and UX mindset across the team

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Manage 15+ engineering employees and contractors
  • Set strategic direction for Front-End technologies in partnership with Enterprise Architecture
  • Work closely with the Back-End Engineering Leader to establish synergies and alignment in platform approach, engineering approach and integration patterns
  • Work closely with the Digital UX Design Manager to provide design feedback and development solutions
  • Own strategic Front-End decisions (technology, development, methodology, best practices)
  • Own and maintain a series of flexible frameworks and “Developer Toolkits” that are used to build multiple applications
  • Evangelize these frameworks to other teams around the bank, helping them set up their own teams and training/preparing new developers
  • Provide training and career-enhancement opportunities for Front-End engineers
  • Validate decisions made by Lead Front-End Engineers
  • Meet with senior leadership and communicate Front-End engineering decisions and structures
  • Identify and direct team on resolution of strategic ‘technical debt’ to improve codebase
  • Manage resource allocation and utilization across teams; ensure effective use of approved budget across employee/contractor mix

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5 or more years of managing technical development/engineering resources and validating/verifying their quality of work, or equivalent leadership experience
  • 5 or more years of UX Design and Usability experience
  • Have built several HTML sites/applications using a framework like Bootstrap in the past, and can demonstrate the skills needed to develop them
  • Extensive experience using CSS Preprocessors (preferably SASS)
  • Embraced and contributed to a DevOps environment and have familiarity with build and deployment tools (Docker, Jenkins, etc)
  • Has experience writing automated test scripts, performing ADA evaluations (using aXeCore or similar) and managing build tools (Angular CLI, Webpack, etc)
  • Experience building mobile apps using Cordova (or other similar mobile development frameworks) or directly developing Native iOS and Android components
  • Ability to attract, inspire and coach great talent

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Significant experience building complex Angular applications (including TypeScript), HTML and CSS
  • Evaluated, proposed and integrated a new framework or tool in a previous job, including experiences documenting pros/cons, making suggestions and developing business cases and strategic plans
  • Examples of using JavaScript and CSS animations to develop complex interactions (including GreenSock, SVG animation, etc)
  • Experience working with Middleware team to create Rest APIs used by the front-end code
  • Experience working in an agile delivery environment
