POSITION OVERVIEW
The Compliance Executive – Fair & Responsible Banking / Risk Evaluation & Assurance (FARB/REA) is a key leader within Compliance Risk Management, responsible for all aspects of a Fair Lending and Responsible Banking Program, as well as an independent Compliance Risk testing program. The Compliance Executive is responsible for identifying and providing guidance on emerging risks and industry trends and implementing ongoing enhancements of the applicable programs. He or she is expected to exhibit strong leadership, initiative and agility. He or she must demonstrate leadership with various lines of business and proactively and productively coordinate with other groups within Key (1st, 2nd, and 3rd Lines of Defense.) The FARB team includes Compliance Oversight of Line of Business FARB-related Risks, FARB Regression and Testing, and Compliance Oversight of Complaints Management. The REA team is responsible for targeted, precision compliance testing of high-risk areas.

This role reports directly to the Chief Compliance Officer. The team includes 15 or more compliance professionals.


JOB REQUIREMENTS
The Compliance Executive is responsible for:

  • Administering the Compliance Risk policies and processes for Fair and Responsible Banking (“FARB”) including Fair Lending, HMDA, UDAP/UDAAP, and CRA.
  • Overseeing the FARB testing program, including regression testing; identifying and implementing opportunities for enhancements.
  • Directing the execution of the Fair Lending Risk Assessments and other FARB-related reviews.
  • Seeking and employing innovation in testing and other methodologies.
  • Overseeing the FARB-related review of third-party vendors, regulatory changes, marketing initiatives and materials, and complaints; encouraging team members to employ critical thinking.
  • Ensuring appropriate FARB-related training of Key employees.
  • Leading the coordination and cooperation within applicable internal audits and applicable regulatory exams.
  • Effectively and professionally interacting with regulatory agency personnel and ensuring successful exam oversight.
  • Overseeing HMDA-related processes, ensuring adequate data capture and reporting for the bank.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of applicable policies and procedures.
  • Directing the second line of defense compliance testing functions. Activities include designing, planning, organizing, and management of compliance risk assessments, testing, and remediation.
  • Leading and/or actively participating in various governance committees.
  • Assessing and reporting on the health of applicable programs.
  • Proactively interacting with senior and executive leadership regarding risks, issues, concerns, and industry and internal trends, etc.
  • Promoting an organizational culture that encourages acknowledgement and recognition of compliance risks and places a high priority on risk management.
  • Partnering with the LOB while balancing the fiduciary oversight role in order to support and review and challenge high-risk initiatives, products, third parties, and clients; seeking opportunities to break down silos.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to lead multiple entity wide teams spanning numerous risk and compliance functions.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent program director of Compliance/Fair Lending/Fair and Responsible Banking experience.
  • 10 plus years of experience as a financial services compliance professional, bank regulator, or other comparable legal experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Fair and Responsible Banking, Fair Lending, UDAAP, and other areas of compliance as required.
  • Possess CRCM or willing to obtain the certification within a timeframe as directed by department management.
  • Strong relationship management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage regulatory relations and effectively manage regulatory exams.
  • Executive presence with the ability to effectively brief/communicate with all levels of Executive Management.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment.
  • Sound decision-making skills; able to make decisions independently and quickly.
  • Solid written and oral communication skills.
  • Sound understanding of compliance risks.
  • Strong research skills coupled with strong problem solving/analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
