Key Community Development Lending is the debt arm within CDLI, and the Northeast Team Leader reports to the National Manager of CDLI, and is part of the CDLI leadership team. The Team Leader collaborates with the other CDLI Team Leaders and employees, Affordable Perm Mortgage, and Enterprise Commercial Payments, and various other lines of business across KeyBank to ensure a collaborative execution of CDLI’s fully integrated platform.

The Northeast Team Leader drives community development lending by providing banking solutions to owners, operators, and developers of affordable housing. This includes providing various debt executions including construction loans, bridge loans, preservation loans, re-syndication loans, and working closely with our Permanent Mortgage Team to drive affordable FHA/HUD, Fannie, and Freddie executions. Works to assure continued Outstanding CRA ratings. Creates a disciplined sales culture and focuses on the development and retention of employees.

Essential Job Functions
Sales and Service:

Leads and manages the performance of the Northeast Sales Team, delivering community development lending contribution margin and revenue growth while meeting or exceeding the CRA responsibilities in the communities served by the Bank.

Drives a high quality profitable portfolio within the CDLI region by developing market area strategies, enhancing sales effectiveness and implementing a disciplined sales and credit culture.
Manages revenue and mission focused growth utilizing a variant of debt solutions. Aggressively develops client relationships through community involvement, acts as a catalyst for Key in various markets served and works with Bank leadership to communicate lending/banking activity accomplished in those markets.
Proactively identifies issues developing in LMI and affordable housing markets and takes action to avoid adverse impact on the Bank image.
Identifies and keeps sales teams in regular contact with high profile COIs, clients, and prospective clients throughout the team’s geographies.
Effectively disseminates information to internal/external clients regarding Key’s positive impact and influence on the communities served through CDLI’s lending and tax credit investments. Seeks to identify team’s PR opportunities and high profile project internal and external PR opportunities.
Ensures that products and services are delivered in a quality manner and in accordance with desired service levels.
Provides leadership and guidance to team of RMs regarding appropriate client and deal selection as well as appropriate pricing parameters, underwriting criteria, and partnership deal points.
Assures team members effectively participate with CDLI equity/investment teams (KCDC), District teams, Affordable Mortgage Teams, Enterprise Commercial Payment Teams, and leverage expertise and deliver exceptional client satisfaction.
Partners with Credit Administration, KCDC, Real Estate Services, and other support partners to maintain credit quality goals.
Acts as a trusted advisor to team’s current and future most profitable relationships.
Actively participates in Industry conferences/workshops and promote employee engagement activity, serve on community based boards and committees to represent Key within Districts and Region(s).
Ensures that loans are closed in compliance with credit approval, required documentation is executed, and are booked accurately.
Manages the Northeast Sales Team:
Drives performance of the sales team, provides development plans, monitors progress, provides ongoing recognition for successes and takes action on performance issues.
Coaches and directs the teams’ sales efforts by ensuring consistent sales and underwriting processes.
Serves as a liaison between the CDLI Lending team and various areas of the bank to resolve sales problems or answer questions.
Provides support for sales and product training programs for CDLI RMs & Associates and recommends new training programs to address specific needs.
Selects, hires and coaches for retention of a high quality work force.
Promotes the 1Key Philosophy to team.
Ensures that the team is informed of new products, pricing model changes, stays abreast of CD industry changes, and maintains industry wide profile.

Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree (in related field)
7 to 10 years experience in community development lending or commercial real estate lending with demonstrated credit acumen.
Demonstrated ability to lead through coaching/example, manage and champion a successful sales team.
Experience implementing creative selling and innovative problem solving techniques.
Proven ability to drive a business development effort individually and within a team.

Proven experience and broad understanding of government loan programs for housing development, tax credit programs, and other non-traditional CRA related investment and lending products and programs.
Demonstrated sensitivity to the financial needs of low-to-moderate income individuals/communities and understanding of the tax credit markets.
Demonstrated proficiency in executing against a disciplined sales process within a sales service environment.
Strong knowledge of financial markets.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
