Job Description

Under direct supervision, the Business Analytics Associate is primarily responsible for supporting the formulation of hypotheses, translation of data, design/measurement of experiments and generation of insights to inform business decisions by using various data mining techniques. The Business Analytics Associate uses data to perform basic diagnostic analyses and assists the team’s diagnostic projects to provide answers to questions such as “Why did it happen?” and “What action can I take?”. Through the use of reporting and execution of ad hoc requests by pulling data and creating basic analysis and the inspection and control of testing procedures, the Business Analytics Associate identifies trends and outliers. Success criteria include: timely and effective handling of data or analytics requests assigned by manager; providing input into basic business or analytical challenges faced by the team; developing communication skills, business acumen, and critical thinking; and establishing relationships with peers and broader team.
  • Pull basic data and provide reoccurring reporting and ad hoc requests
  • Create simple analysis to support the production of insights into relevant business questions under general direction / supervision
  • Develop basic visualizations and PowerPoint presentations
  • Provide input with addressing basic business/analytical problems and challenges
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once and prioritize deliver based on key objectives
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and concisely for all levels of management
  • Effectively communicate research findings both orally and in written format
  • Undergraduate degree (Finance, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or other analytically related discipline) strongly preferred OR 1 year of relevant experience
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Basic knowledge
    • Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
    • Data visualization
    • Data mining techniques
  • Beginner-intermediate database querying skill (SQL)
  • Familiar with analytical tools/languages (SAS, Python)
  • Exposure to data integration
  • Basic project management skill
