ABOUT THE JOB (JOB BRIEF)

The Trust Tax Manager III is responsible for driving and initiating tax strategy and tax reporting advice to Key’s clients. The position ensures that the advice is proactive and relevant; and follows through to ensure that year-end tax reporting supports the implementation of the advice. Participates in driving business value, setting direction for the trust tax team’s workload, leveraging industry best practices.

Provides direct leadership to Trust Officers, Relationship Managers and other client facing team members to achieve consistent execution of tax advice to families and not for profit organizations. Sets and continuously improves performance standards and is accountable for the development of a world class advice based delivery and reporting practice, ensuring performance standards are met and risk is effectively mitigated.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Management responsibility for specialty trust tax activities, leading through influence or direct reporting structure
  • Individual responsibilities may include (but not limited to):
    • Preparation of returns for complex and sensitive account relationships, including fiduciary, individual and charitable returns.
    • Supervision of tax professionals.
    • Individual coaching.
    • Team building.
  • Subject Matter Expert to client facing teams
  • Technical advice to administrative staff and customers on various tax issues.
  • Coordination with external advisors
  • Ability to communicate with ultra-affluent families and describe complex tax structures
  • Responsible as extended member of client facing advisory team
  • Assemble all necessary tax information for assigned trust relationships and families; preparation of
fiduciary and individual returns in timely manner.
  • Review and maintain tax information on trust accounting and vendor tax preparation system to
assure accuracy.

Marginal Job Functions
  • Work within the overall organizational structure.
  • Special assignments, which encompass activities on an overall organizational level.
  • Significant overtime required January through April.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; or equivalent work experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant or LLM preferred.
  • Bank trust tax experience of at least 10 years or equivalent high volume fiduciary tax preparation.
  • Demonstrated strong client focus; efficient and delivers in a timely manner.
  • Experience with OneSource Trust Tax.
  • Ability to plan and schedule work to meet strict tax deadlines
  • Proven ability to handle multiple priorities and work independently and as part of a team
  • Communication and motivational skills relative to individuals with technical backgrounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Global Plus or similar Trust Accounting System.
  • Windows, Word, Excel and Access experience.
