Job Description

The QRM Analyst reports to the Secondary Marketing Pricing Manager and is primarily responsible for developing, documenting and supporting deployment of quantitative models and other analytical tools. This position will also work in model validation, reviewing tools after deployment and development. The core activities will include managing the assumptions, maintenance and running of the QRM Mortgage Banking (MB) framework; analysis and interpretation of QRM output with regard to interest rate, basis and yield curve risk; and analysis of Capital Market pricing, behavioral data and economic trends. The position will also be responsible for analyzing existing data sources and mapping elements for reporting and analytics.

  • Administration of the QRM Mortgage Banking (MB) framework and Middle Office processes, including periodic calibration to the capital markets of QRM's behavioral models.
  • Responsible for generating and analyzing QRM pipeline management, trade and allocation reports.
  • Analyze data sources and map elements for reporting and analytics.
  • Configure QRM MB functional enhancement, performing regression and other testing procedures with regard to patches, quarterly upgrades and new releases.
  • Maintaining the QRM MB model test environment(s).
  • Ensure models comply with requirements for model development, documentation, ongoing verification and other policy requirements; address model validation recommendations and remediate issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues pertaining to QRM.
  • Configure analytic tools to deliver various risk management reports, including but not limited to position reporting, hedging, mark to market, allocation/pooling, trading, and settlements.

  • Bachelor’s degree (in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Computer Science is preferred) or equivalent work experience; Master’s degree preferred
  • 2-3 years’ experience to Capital Markets and/or data base administration, developing, documenting, implementing or validating quantitative models; 5 years preferred
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, including ability to formulate solutions to non-routine problems
  • Ability to work with a large degree of independence and to seek and use guidance appropriately
  • Strong understanding of analytical tools and database management with a high proficiency in Excel, Access, SAS, SQL Server
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines, handle ambiguity and adapt to changing priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Knowledge of QRM software, preferably QRMMB (i.e. mortgage banking) a plus.
  • Understanding of complex mortgage financial and operational risks.
  • Detail oriented due to the immediate and significant financial impact of an error in a trading/hedging position.
  • Proven ability to handle several critical functions simultaneously and seamlessly transition between responsibilities as the situation demands in order to meet industry-established deadlines.
  • Knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC/GNMA delivery processes a plus.
