About the Job
The origination of new loans is a critical function within KeyBank which involves a complex process across several loan systems. Within this context, new strategies can be tested and implemented as well as data engineered to allow for big-data analytics and machine learning to create a feedback loop to drive strategic decisioning.

Essential Job Functions
The Risk, Modeling and Analytics group at KeyBank is looking for a Sr. Data Engineer to work with these loan origination systems and engineer the data for analytics purposes. This person will be required to work across a number of systems and program the implementation of strategies. This will require a strong ability to problem solve configuration issues as well as complete required testing to ensure that the system is working as expected.

This person will also need to have a deep understanding of consumer lending and the interaction of credit risk with the existing Credit Bureaus to utilize data science skills to analyze the results of the strategies. In doing so, he/she will have the opportunity to interact with Senior Executives to present these results. Additionally, he/she will have the chance to suggest and implement new strategies and drive Key’s overall origination direction.

The final job function is to be a data expert. This will entail deep dives into the data to support the analytics above, including engineering the data so that it can be used for advanced analytics across the entire organization. Functions such as creating extracts by joining tables across systems, doing data quality checks and identifying data gaps will be central to this role.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science field, business, math / statistics (Master's preferred)

  • 1-3 years of experience in financial services industry, specifically consumer lending

  • Familiarity with credit bureaus; what information they collect and how it can be used

  • Proven ability to multi-task across projects while managing them to completion

  • Excellent Decision Making and Problem Solving with proven results

  • Experience doing data engineering and data architecture

  • Impeccable integrity, strong accountability, sound judgment, and strategic vision




Preferred Skills

  • Experience using and building strategies with FICO® Decision Engine products.

  • Experience with databases, including coding Extract / Transform / Load (ETL)

  • PC/Application/Mainframe skills (LINUX Experience preferred)Data Engineering skills ( SQL, Hadoop, Teradata, Cognos, Google Cloud, AWS, etc.)

  • Familiarity with data analysis software (SAS, Python, R)Knowledge of Distributed Applications and XML Data Familiarity with technology project life cycle and implementation Ability to evaluate and process data that generates actionable results

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
