Position Title: Senior Regulatory Reporting Analyst
Job Brief (Purpose):
As part of the Regulatory Reporting Team within Finance, responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, preparation of the Company’s quarterly regulatory reports, ensuring compliance with instructions, rules and regulations and completion of related projects involving complex financial analysis. This opportunity not only provides the right candidate with critical understanding of the bank’s operations, organizational and legal structures; but also allows for great visibility, as the individual will be in contact with management of the different lines of business. Given the volatility of the regulatory environment, the right candidate must be able to thrive under deadlines, but at the same time shift gears quickly if priorities change.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Prepare quarterly financial reports (e.g., Call Reports, FRY-9C, FRY-14, etc.) prescribed by the banking regulators ensuring accuracy of all data reported and conformance with regulatory instructions and timely submission.
  • Conduct analytical reviews of regulatory reports to ensure that the balances, variances between periods and trends are reasonable and sufficiently explained. Recognize, investigate, document and explain fluctuations and trends to management.
  • Research, review and implement new and revised reporting requirements established by the banking regulators. Analyze implications to KeyCorp and provide management with insightful analysis.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive internal control policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of the regulatory reporting process.
  • Maximize the use of automated technology to achieve the highest level of quality and efficiency in the preparation of regulatory reports.
  • Assists with responding to external and internal auditors and examiners questions and information requests.
  • Understand and process changes to production applications and models (hierarchies, translation tables, parameters, data loads, security, reports, etc.).
  • Research and help to resolve sometimes less than straight-forward issues.
  • Performs data and process validation during testing and production phases of projects and ongoing work efforts.
  • Works to continuously improve production validation and other processes.
  • Participate simultaneously on multiple work efforts and high priority activities.
  • Able to effectively work independently and as part of a team to offer and implement solutions to achieve business opportunities.
  • Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
Required Qualifications/Competencies:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Finance, Information Technology, Accounting or related field).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience in a financial reporting or financial data analysis position.
  • Strong financial and/or accounting acumen.
  • Database querying and data transformation expertise (i.e., Oracle, DB2, SQL, SAS).
  • Knowledge of data mining concepts and approaches.
  • Experience dealing with complex and large data sets from multiple sources to support analytical processes.
  • Quantitative, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Interest, willingness and ability to assimilate information quickly and succinctly.
  • Action oriented; takes initiative to challenge current processes and implement change.
  • Organized self-starter with the ability to think and work independently and creatively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills coupled with the ability to work and communicate with personnel at all levels in the Corporation, including Finance and Technology professionals and executives of different and varied level of backgrounds
  • Proven team player, willing to assist others as needed to ensure that group deadlines are met and quality standards are achieved.
Preferred Skills:
  • Proficiency in using analytical tools (DB2, SQL, Visual Basic, SAS (EG), Tableau, etc.).
  • Experience working with financial system reporting environments (i.e., Cognos, Essbase, Oracle, QRM, Workday, AxiomSL, mainframe z/OS, etc.).
  • Experience working with various ETL tools (MS Access, Abinitio, Workday Prism, etc.).
  • Hands on experience with database compilation and analysis.
