This individual will be responsible for the management, validation and control of Default Accounting related processes and acts as a central liaison with Finance/OB&C/Accounts Payable to manage the proper classification/disposition of expenses/fees/TDR/Accrual and support the reconciliation of related MSP, ALS, General Ledger (GL) and DDA accounts. Their primary role will also be acting as a Point of Contact lead for Default for internal audit etc. and include the strategic optimization and management of daily Default Accounting related controls, reconciliation processes and providing support for projects for management and other tasks. Position will be primarily working on the Reconciliation and Accounting for Real Estate Secured Mortgage and HE Portfolios, utilizing MSP, Director, CAS, ALS CLS, LIQ, DFP, Strategy, ALS, Student Loans, MSP, CAS and OREO database.
  • Liaison with OB&C, Finance, Loan Support and Servicing Teams for assigned Default Accounting tasks
  • Execution/Oversight of Default LOB Cash Application, Expense Management processing
  • Perform basic to moderately complex reconciliations, fundings or settlements
  • Identify and resolve reconciliation exceptions
  • Responsible for tasks presented for applicable Default Corrective actions
  • Management/Maintenance of Default payment application rules/waterfall
  • Management/Maintenance of defined Default Stops and Flag rules/waterfall
  • Provide monthly reporting pertaining to Cost Center, Ops Losses and Vendor Expenses
  • Prepare, analyze, and coordinate regulatory reporting with supervision
  • Lead cross-training efforts for individual team members
  • Update changes to existing departmental procedures
  • Identify and report critical incidents or production issues
  • Support monitoring and testing of internal Default Accounting related controls
  • Responsible for oversight of Default Invoice processes, reinstatement/PIF transactions and financial transactions associated with FC Third Party Sales/INV/GSE Claims, REO Sales, Bankruptcy and Loss Mitigation
  • Questioning the processes to identify areas of improvement in all aspects of current functions
  • Ability to understand and identify governance risk and controls and notify management when appropriate
  • Others as needed by management
  • Participate in testing of corporate and departmental projects
  • Support the development of control/exception reporting
  • Supports preparation of LOB scorecarding and analytics

  • Finance/Accounting degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of Real Estate Default experience or equivalent experience

  • In depth accounting experience
  • Experience with control/exception report development
  • Experience with Default Servicing Quality Control processes
  • Experience working on Real Estate Secured or Consumer loan applications (Black Knight MSP/LoanSphere Invoice, ALS, MSP, CAS)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Excel/PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to interact with all levels of personnel
  • Demonstrates basic critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze and summarize simple to moderately complex problems
  • Listens and questions effectively
  • Ability to communicate a basic understanding of department goals, objectives, and deliverables
