Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assess and enhance the end-to-end operational risk tolerance framework (risk appetite) associated with all Enterprise Payments products, services and operations.
  • Identify, assess, manage, mitigate and escalate existing and emerging operational risks associated with products, services and customers. Collaborate with all impacted stakeholders on strategy, and approach for remediation of any identified deficiencies.
  • Identify operational risks and evaluate control effectiveness across the entire product lifecycle. Evaluate and credibly challenge, as appropriate, operational controls and testing strategy across entire product lifecycle including inception, launch and execution.
  • Review and recommend changes, as appropriate, to payments operational risk policies on a periodic basis.
  • Evaluate and/or establish key risk indicators (in conjunction with key business partners where relevant), aggregate operational risk metrics and report holistic end-to-end operational risk profile of products/ business.
  • Leverage expertise to partner with line executives for the growth and development of the firm’s franchise within a measured risk/return framework.
  • Optimize technology and industry best practices to ensure that the Enterprise Payments program meets the risk appetite and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with US laws and regulations affecting products, business practices and customers across entire product lifecycle.
  • Manage, set objectives and prioritize activities and performance management of assigned staff.
  • Ensure on-going awareness of emerging industry and regulatory developments as they pertain to the business and its customers.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

Experienced financial services operational risk leader with deep understanding of existing and emerging global payment networks, regulations and risk, and responsibilities relative to third party payment processors.

Business Leadership:

  • Experienced operational and risk management leader from a top tier, complex bank or major financial institution.
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert in financial services relative to risk management, enterprise payments and the regulatory environment.
  • Viewed as a strategic leader;
  • Proven leadership with the ability to mentor and develop the team.
  • Ability to manage multiple demands and changing priorities seamlessly.
  • Sound judgment, sophisticated analytical, interpersonal communications and presentation skills are required from an information delivery and exchange perspective.
  • Ability to evaluate current state payments operational framework and make recommendations for enhancements. Experience effectuating change through a collaborative approach.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Ability to work seamlessly across the organization and various constituencies, both internal and external;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to serve as liaison between the business and risk management;
  • Strong relationship building abilities with executive management, demonstrating influencing skills to drive disparate points of view to a common goal and ability to communicate complex operational and risk issues in a credible and convincing manner;
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;
  • Fosters collaborative interaction with auditors and examiners;

Risk and Governance:

  • Extensive knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of enterprise payments operational risk and potential impacts on organization.
  • Deep understanding of governance relating to risk management
  • Experienced in risk assessment methodologies, internal controls.
  • Strong analytical skills required to enable independent research and accurate assessments of risk management process effectiveness and adherence to regulatory requirements.
