Job Description


The position is responsible for the leadership of the Internal Control & Control Testing Team within Loan Services. This includes supervising the design and execution of all control testing for Loan Services, and assessing compliance and operational risks through reviewing control testing. This position partners with Business Risk and Controls, Compliance Risk Management, and Operations Risk Management, to ensure Loan Services adheres to corporate policies and standards. The position requires highly effective leadership skills to drive a strong risk culture across Loan Services. This manager leads a team of 18 control testers and analysts.

  • Direct and lead a highly effective control testing team driving a strong risk culture across Loan Services.
  • Develop and monitor the execution of control testing. Provide guidance on risk and control assessments to team and peers.
  • Partner with Business Risk & Controls, second line of defense, and control owners to ensure policies and procedures are consistent with current applicable rules, regulations and laws.
  • Administer internal control policies and procedures, including rate management, authority policies, and business continuity.
  • Direct the mortgage investor QC program in accordance with investor guidelines.
  • Provide vendor oversight across Loan Services and ensure third party management tasks are completed.
  • Provide support on special projects, as assigned.
  • Ensure team members are engaged and receive appropriate career development coaching and opportunities for continued growth.
  • Maintain knowledge and expertise in Loan Services processes, supporting applications and their data.
  • Exhibit critical thinking, problem solving and negotiating skills to resolve difficult and sometimes controversial issues; escalates issues as appropriate to the correct level of management.
  • Lead and/or participate in senior management updates and presentations.
  • Identify opportunities and propose changes to enhance operating efficiency and service delivery.

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and initiatives to successful completion; excellent organization skills including the proven ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and implement initiatives.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple, complex assignments with competing deadlines; proven ability to prioritize commitments, assign tasks and follow up on assignments.
  • 5+ years of risk management, audit, or public accounting experience
