Job Description

The Credit Analyst role is within the Commercial Underwriting Department (Credit Campus) and these individuals typically have less than two years of commercial underwriting experience. Upon receipt of training, Credit Analysts are primarily responsible for spreading and reviewing financial statements, determining the appropriate risk rating, and writing credit memos for renewals, annual reviews, etc. with recommendation for decision to the appropriate credit officer.This position may support any of the following underwriting segments: Agribusiness, Business Banking, Middle Market, Public Sector, Private Banking, or SBA.

  • Spread/review financial statements, test covenants, analyze financial and non-financial information to develop a concise focused analytical foundation for a credit decision.
  • Collaborate with relationship managers and credit partners to drive the efficiency and effectiveness of the credit process to meet client expectations.
  • Responsible for the development of quality credit memos and adherence to Key Bank’s credit policy.
  • Recommend decision to appropriate credit officer.
  • Monitor and identify risks within the existing portfolio.
  • Identify and escalate material issues or trends in a timely manner.
  • Periodic projects related to the constantly changing risk management environments.

Required Competencies and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with a preferred focus on Business course work, or equivalent work experience
  • Strong financial and/or accounting acumen
  • Demonstrated business writing and communications/presentation skills
  • Good analytical and decision-making skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work well individually as well as part of a team
  • Commitment to core values; Teamwork, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Leadership
  • Satisfactory knowledge and proficiency in working with personal computers and business software (e.g. Microsoft Office - Word, Excel)
